SUNDAYWith the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks coming at the end of this week, several cable channels have new specials lined up to revisit that dark day, starting with a look at the efforts of first-responders in “9/11: After the Towers Fell.” (Discovery, 9 p.m.)

If they come, they will build it. Twenty contestants vie for the title of “All American Handyman” — or handywoman — in this new reality competition. Sweetening the pot: A prize package worth 10 grand and a shot at his or her own show. (HGTV, 9 p.m.)

MONDAY

Lose weight now, ask her how: The new series “Thintervention With Jackie Warner” follows the fitness guru and former “Workout” star on her quest to pump up and pare down a passel of plump and portly prospects. (Bravo, 10 p.m.)

TUESDAY

“Sons of Anarchy,” the grimy and grim saga of a rough-rolling biker gang, rides back into town for a third season of thrills, spills ... and kills. Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal star. What’re they rebelling against? Whaddya got? (FX , 10 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY

Liver? Check. Fava beans and a nice chianti? Check and check. Now settle in for “The Silence of the Lambs: The Inside Story,” a behind-the-scenes look at the making of director Jonathan Demmme’s Oscar-winning 1991 thriller starring Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster. (Bio, 6 and 10 p.m.)

THURSDAY

The lithe and lovely Maggie Q assumes the title role of the lovely and lethal spy out to bring down the agency what done her wrong in the action-drama “Nikita,” the second TV series to be based on the 1991 film “La Femme Nikita.” (KTLA, 9 p.m.)

FRIDAY

The Big Four networks and a handful of cable channels are calling on you to “Stand Up to Cancer” in a star-studded simulcast to raise awareness and funding for research into a cure. News anchors Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Diane Sawyer co-host. (8 p.m.)

SATURDAY

If you admire Arthur Conan Doyle’s famed super-sleuth but wish he had brawn to match his brains, we deduce that you’ll enjoy Robert Downey’s two-fisted turn as “Sherlock Holmes” in director Guy Ritchie’s 2009 actioner. (Cinemax, 10 p.m.)
