Vista Murrieta received some flak for running up the score in a 75-3 victory last weekend against host Coachella Valley. In their defense, the Broncos began pulling starters early in the third quarter, but it appears the reserves were too much for Coachella Valley as well.

Vista Murrieta (4-0) gets back on the road this week, flying to Salt Lake City and then taking a five-hour bus ride into Colorado, where the Broncos will take on Grand Junction (1-3) on Friday night.

A good friend of mine from our El Toro High School days, Jim Jacobson, whose daughter is a freshman cheerleader for Grand Junction, didn’t sound confident that the home team would put up a fight.

Kind of like a steer headed to the slaughterhouse.

‘We’ll lose worse than that,’ Jim said after hearing the Coachella Valley score.

Still, he promises to keep an eye on the game and not the flips and splits, and will provide an in-person account once his headache subsides. Just keep track of when they pull the starters, Jim.
