Travis Wear is the first Mater Dei to foul out, earning his fifth on a three-point play that allowed San Jose Mitty to cut the deficit to four points with 6:21 remaining in the Division II state final.
Collin Chiverton then stole a pass and made a reverse layup, pulling Mitty within two points with 5:49 remaining. Drew Gordon then tied the score when he put back his own miss, but Andy Brown scored his first field goal on a baseline drive and converted the three-point play, pushing Mater Dei’s lead back to three midway through the final quarter.
