Boys’ tennis: Division I final takes center stage at The Claremont Club

The battle is on for the Southern Section-Toyota Division I team championship. Top-seeded Irvine University, the defending champion, is deadlocked 3-3 with second-seeded Santa Barbara heading into the second rotation of round-robin play.

University took charge early, building a 3-1 lead, but Santa Barbara’s No. 2 player Chase Melton beat John Huang to pull the Dons even in front of a loud and boisterous crowd at The Claremont Club. With so much riding on every point, the intensity on the court is growing and it looks as if this one will go right down to the wire.
