Defending CIF City Section champion Los Angeles Crenshaw leads Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett, 12-7, at halftime thanks to the efforts of running back De’Anthony Thomas.
Thomas scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, one on a 59-yard run and the other on a 27-yard pass from quarterback Marquis Thompson. He finished with 140 total yards of offense in the first half.
However, Thomas’ effectiveness was limited in the second quarter as North Gwinnett held him to less than 20 yards rushing.
Both teams played better defensively in the second quarter after getting burned by big plays in the game’s opening minutes.
The game is being televised live on ESPNU.
