Baseball: Valencia defeats Hart, 5-2

Valencia received home runs from A.J. Balta and Trey Williams in a 5-2 Foothill League victory over Newhall Hart to take over first place. Quincy Quintero threw a complete game.

West Ranch defeated Golden Valley, 11-3, with JC Cloney getting three hits.

In the Mission League, Chaminade defeated Loyola, 2-0. Harvard-Westlake defeated St. Francis, 9-3. Arden Pabst had three hits and three RBIs.

In the Marmonte League, Luke Dykstra had three hits in Westlake’s 9-4 win over Calabasas. Simi Valley defeated Agoura, 12-2. Royal scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Newbury Park, 9-8. Freshman Chris Kovac threw three scoreless innings. Justin Greco homered. Moorpark defeated Thousand Oaks.

In the Golden League, Quartz Hill defeated Lancaster, 2-1. Brandon Murachanian struck out seven. Jay Sheeley had two hits.

Bishop Amat hit four home runs in a 14-1 win over La Salle. Jay Anderson hit a grand slam.
