Los Angeles Loyola junior guard Trey Mason is going to be one of the most intriguing players for college basketball coaches to begin evaluating this week.

He came through with another memorable performance Tuesday night in the Gardena Serra League, scoring more than 25 points in a three-point loss to Los Angeles Windward.

Loyola was missing four starters, giving Mason a chance to play, and observers say he was magnificient. He played junior varsity last season but has shown an ability to shoot the ball as well as anyone from three-point range this summer. That’s a skill much in demand at the next level.
