Doctors for William J. Schroeder have been unable to find a suitable patient for the next artificial heart implant, they said. “There are no viable candidates at this time,” said Linda Broadus, spokeswoman for Humana Hospital Audubon in Louisville, Ky. Meanwhile, Schroeder continued to undergo daily physical and speech therapy to correct problems caused by the strokes he suffered Dec. 13, Broadus said.
