San Diego Prep Basketball : Ramona Beats Escondido, 53-51

SAN DIEGO — Mike Pendell and John Monetta teamed to lead Ramona High School to a 53-51 Avocado League victory Thursday against Escondido at Ramona High.
Ramona is 3-1 in the Avocado League, 8-5 overall this season. It was 0-12 in league play last season.
Pendell led all scorers with 25 points. Monetta scored 14, making six of eight shots from the floor, and had 10 assists.
Escondido (0-4, 1-11) led, 33-32, at halftime, but Ramona led throughout the second half. Despite the two-point margin of victory, the game did not come down to a final shot by either team. Darin Sommer led Escondido with 28 points.
In other Avocado League games:
Oceanside 53, Carlsbad 39--The Pirates made 25 of 37 shots from the floor en route to the upset win at Carlsbad High.
Oceanside also out-rebounded its opponents, 24-19. It was the first time Carlsbad has been out-rebounded this season.
Tim Prim led San Diego 2-A Conference defending champion Oceanside (4-1, 10-5) with 19 points. Rick White scored 14 points for Carlsbad (3-1, 9-5).
El Camino 65, San Pasqual 50--The No. 8 Wildcats improved their record to 4-1, 13-2 with the win at San Pasqual High. San Pasqual is 1-3, 9-8.
