The San Diego County coroner’s office identified the victims of the crash of a light plane in Pine Valley as Steve Francis Sampo Jr., 47, of Serra Mesa and Joseph John Sampo, 64, of El Cajon. The younger Sampo, who was flying the plane, was the nephew of the older man, Deputy Coroner Chuck Bolton said. The two died instantly when their Cessna 185 Skywagon crashed Monday south of Interstate 8.
