Reagan Flies West for ‘Well-Deserved’ Four Days at Ranch

POINT MUGU — A winter- weary President Reagan arrived in California this afternoon to spend four days at his mountaintop ranch, his first vacation since he began his second term three weeks ago.
With his budget submitted to Congress and his State of the Union message delivered last week, Reagan is taking “a well-deserved vacation,” a White House spokesman said.
Reagan and his wife, Nancy, rendezvoused at Point Mugu Naval Air Station when Air Force One touched down and then took a brief helicopter ride to their 688-acre spread near Santa Barbara.
The First Lady flew west a day ahead of her husband, stopping overnight in Phoenix to visit her mother.
The trip is Reagan’s first return to his ranch since an eight-day stay last Thanksgiving. He spent six days in Los Angeles and Palm Springs over the Christmas-New Year holiday.
