A Westminster motel manager was gunned down by one of two armed robbers who escaped with a bundle of cash, police said. Robert Luther Thomas, 60, was shot as many as four times during the robbery and was pronounced dead at Fountain Valley Community Hospital, Sgt. Mike Mittelstaedt said. Thomas, who managed the 120-room Motel 6 at 6266 Westminster Blvd., was in a front office when two armed men walked in and demanded money. Thomas, who was not armed, was then shot for no apparent reason.
