The annexation of 3,307-acre Daley Ranch to Escondido was approved Wednesday night by the City Council, thereby increasing the physical size of the city by 20%.
The Mobil Land Development Corp., which owns most of the annexed property, plans to develop it in phases over 20 years as home sites for more than 3,200 families. The property is in the hills north of Lake Dixon.
The annexation, the biggest in the city’s history, was approved by a 5-0 vote of the City Council.
