McConnell Wins Speedway Main Event

Shawn McConnell of Brea won the scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night before 5,633 in the Orange County Fairgrounds at Costa Mesa.
Mike Faria of Colton defeated five opponents to win the five-lap handicap main event while Ronnie Correy of Fullerton won the second-division main event.
