President’s Tax Proposals
I know a man who promised to eliminate the deficit. A year later he had nearly tripled it and the total national debt is nearly doubled.
In 1981 this man reduced everyone’s taxes. Funny thing, but mine went up.
This same man is in favor of an amendment to the Constitution to balance the budget, yet he has never yet offered a balanced budget.
This man said he would build a safety net to protect the poor and the aged, yet there are now more poor than before and the children are taking the brunt of the poverty; but that’s OK because children can’t vote.
This man said he would never (over his dead body) modify the Social Security benefits, yet about three months later he proposed to eliminate any increases as provided for by law.
Now this man tells me he wants to modify the tax structure and reduce my taxes again.
Why should I believe this man?
