Thor Industries Buys Motor Home Builder

Establishment Industries Inc., a San Fernando-based motor home manufacturer, was purchased by Ohio-based Thor Industries for an undisclosed price.

Establishment’s sales have jumped from $2.8 million in 1982 to an estimated $27 million for this year, said William J. Rex, Establishment’s president. The manufacturer employs 200 people at its facility, and Rex predicts twice as many people will work for the company within two years with the introduction of new products next year.

The acquisition of Establishment will make Thor Industries, which posted sales last year of $95 million, among the six largest travel trailer and motor home manufacturers in North America, Rex said.
