The Region : Dying Youth’s Doctor Off for Vietnam

After a month of negotiations to obtain a visa, a doctor left Los Angeles for Vietnam to test relatives of a dying Vietnamese teen-ager for a bone marrow match that could save his life. Dr. Vasilious Berdoukas spent two weeks in Thailand waiting for permission to fly to Vietnam, only to return to Los Anglees in frustraition eight days ago. He finally received word from the Vietnamese that they had decided to allow him into the country Thursday to get blood samples from the brother and sister of Le Thoi, 17, who was reported in stable condition at the Ronald McDonald House, a Childrens Hospital facility.
