An Upland pumping company operator pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Los Angeles Municipal Court to three felony charges of illegally transporting and disposing of hazardous wastes.
Dominique Itzen was arrested by the California Highway Patrol after he allegedly trucked 31 drums of chlorinated solvents from an Azusa firm to an unlicensed disposal site in Signal Hill, where the load was refused, and then reportedly tried to leave the material at a second site at 1328 Willow St. near downtown Los Angeles.
Itzen was held in County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Preliminary hearing was set for June 24.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Carmen Trutanich said this was the first CHP felony arrest in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Toxic Waste Strike Force.
