MODESTO — Mike Norris, the Oakland A’s pitcher who has been out of baseball since 1983, pitched six innings for the A’s Modesto farm team Thursday night, allowing only two infield singles and one unearned run in a California League game against Stockton.
Modesto won, 2-1 in 10 innings. Norris, who was not involved in the decision, struck out four batters and walked none.
Norris began a 20-day injury rehabilitation assignment with the appearance in the Class A game, but he could be added to the Oakland roster at any time, and he made a strong case for himself, facing only 19 batters and throwing 65 pitches.
