KAMPALA, Uganda — The army commander for Uganda’s western region, Lt. Col. Cirinoben Oboti, was killed in an ambush by rebels west of Kampala on Thursday, Vice President Paulo Muwango said Saturday. Five soldiers were reported slain in the clash.
