Night-Hiking Ranks Swell After Mention

The impact of the article by Christine Sinrud Shade on night hiking (“Night Hiking Provides a Bright Outlook,” May 23) resulted in a very large turnout of new hikers in Griffith Park between 7 and 9 p.m.
As leader of the “slow-slow” group, I have had an increase from the usual group of 30 to as many as 90 hikers. The new hikers expressed their appreciation for the discovery from your article.
On one night as many as 350 hikers showed up and all the six leaders of the variety of slow to fast hikes have had the increase in their groups.
Newcomers may contact the Griffith Park Ranger Station or call the Sierra Club.
