Ex-Bonn Spokesman Fined for Tax Evasion

WEST BERLIN — Former West German government spokesman Peter Boenisch has been fined more than $300,000 for tax evasion, justice officials said Wednesday.
The fine relates to tax evaded on consultancy fees paid Boenisch by the Daimler-Benz company between 1973 and 1981, Justice Department spokesman Volker Kaehne said.
It was imposed in a written order issued by a West Berlin court on Monday at the request of state prosecutors, he added.
