A federal judge in Chicago, rejecting a move by the Assn. of Flight Attendants, ruled that United Airlines may continue employing about 750 flight attendants it hired during the recent 29-day pilots’ strike but ordered the airline to keep paying full benefits to the attendants who honored picket lines. Meanwhile, a judge hearing a dispute between the Air Line Pilots Assn. and United said that he would take the case under advisement after nearly two weeks of testimony and ordered attorneys to present final briefs July 10.
