Ground beef containing bits of cattle thyroid gland sickened at least 98 persons and is being recalled, the Minnesota Health Department reported. Most cases of the illness, which is not life-threatening, occurred in southwestern Minnesota, with a few cases in eastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa. Symptoms of the illness, called thyrotoxicosis, include fatigue, a rapid heart rate, anxiety and weight gain or loss.
