Ireland’s McCormack Wins Cycle Road Race

BOULDER, Colo. — Irishman Alan McCormack dominated Saturday’s 92-mile road race in the Coors International bicycle races, winning in 3 hours 42 minutes 39 seconds. He was followed by Chris Carmichael and Bob Roll, both in 3:42:44.
Greg LeMond remained the men’s overall leader, 1:51 ahead of runner-up Andy Hampsten, with a 24th place Saturday. Hampsten was 26th.
Sandra Schumacher, a 1984 Olympic gold medalist, won the 39-mile women’s Morgul-Bismarck road race in 1:44:03. Overall leader Jeannie Longo of France was second, and Rebecca Daughton was third.
