Salvadoran leftist rebels ended a six-day traffic sabotage campaign that kept vehicles off roads in the eastern part of the country and cost the economy millions of dollars. The transportation stoppage, the sixth this year, saw the destruction of 25 vehicles by guerrillas. At least one civilian was killed and four wounded. Meanwhile, the auxiliary bishop of San Salvador, Gregorio Rosa Chavez, said there is a possibility that 13 mayors abducted by the rebels almost four months ago will be freed “before Sept. 1.”
