A car driven by a San Diego man traveling on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach early Saturday crossed the center divider and crashed head-on with a car driven by a Newport Beach woman, killing her instantly, police said.
The victim was identified as Teresa Shafer, 24, who was traveling on Pacific Coast Highway just west of Brookhurst Street, said Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Luis Ochoa.
Ochoa said Adam Morgan, 21, was traveling east at 4:54 a.m. when his car crossed the center divider and collided with Shafer’s vehicle. Morgan and a passenger in his car, Russell McIntyre of Visalia, were injured and taken to Fountain Valley Hospital. Both were listed in serious condition with facial, head and internal injuries, Ochoa said.
Ochoa said Morgan would be charged with manslaughter and felony driving under the influence.
Pacific Coast Highway was closed for several hours while Huntington Beach Fire Department personnel cleared the road of the debris caused by the collision, Ochoa said.
