Disney laid off several dozen production workers.

The Burbank-based studio said it furloughed the workers as part of its move to have more work performed by outside firms. Walt Disney Productions will continue to have its own staff produce Disney animation, but will rely on independent writers and producers for other films, said Jeff Rochlis, senior vice president of finance and administration. Rochlis declined to give specific numbers but said that “several dozen workers have been laid off.”
