New York Yankee Manager Billy Martin, in addition to suffering a broken right arm in his weekend fight with pitcher Ed Whitson, said he also suffered cracked ribs.

“I felt fine yesterday, but my side starting hurting last night,” said Martin, whose rib injury was discovered when he went to the doctor to get a new cast.

Whitson, meanwhile, told reporters: “I’ve got three things to say. One, I hate it ended up in this situation. Two, it’s in the past. Three, we got a pennant race going on with Toronto and I’m here for one reason--to help the Yankees win.”
