Construction of a $2.3-million senior center was approved this week after the city completed the sale of bonds that will finance the building and a computer center in City Hall. The senior center will be at Dalton Avenue and 8th Street, across the street from City Hall, and will replace a temporary facility in Memorial Park. It will have a lounge and rooms for a variety of purposes, including crafts, meetings, games and dining for 140 seniors taking advantage of the city’s nutrition program. Construction is expected to be completed next summer.
