BONN — Police have seized 6.7 tons of hashish and 2.4 tons of marijuana, the largest haul of drugs ever confiscated in a single operation in West Germany, the Interior Ministry said Friday.
A spokesman said nine Dutchmen had been arrested in connection with the seizures, which took place in Hamburg on Aug. 26 and 27.
He also said police in the Bavarian city of Wuerzburg had seized a total of 55 pounds of heroin in two separate raids in the last 10 days. Police arrested four Afghans after one raid and held a Briton and a Dutchman after the other, he said.
