The State : School Bars AIDS Victim

An 8-year-old hemophiliac suffering from acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) will be barred from attending class in the Carmel school district, the school board decided. The five board members, who reached their decision behind closed doors, said they were not affected by threats from parents who refused to allow their children to attend school with the AIDS-stricken third-grader. Rather, school board President Doyle Clayton said, the decision was based on the boy’s inability to regularly attend class.
