Four Santa Ana men were arrested on suspicion of burglary in Westminster on Monday when officers, alerted by neighbors, spotted some men hauling items over a backyard fence at Bishop and Magnolia streets, police said.
Booked on suspicion of burglary were Jose H. Gomez, 21, Miguel Angel Gomez, Francisco Rodriguez Sanchez, 23, and Joaquin V. Guerrero, 18. They were expected to be transferred from the Westminster City Jail to the Orange County Jail late Monday.
The arrests occurred after a resident called police and said some men were placing items in the trunk of a car. Authorities went to the scene about 11:35 a.m. and saw two of the men passing items over a backyard fence, police said.
Two of the men were arrested immediately, but two others were caught after a chase by three plainclothes officers, three patrol officers, a motorcycle officer and a sheriff’s deputy.
Authorities said they recovered clothing, jewelry and a portable television taken from a nearby house and from previous burglaries in Garden Grove and Westminster.
