Test-Tube Quads Make 70-Year-Old Dad for 1st-4th Time

LONDON — Toni Del Renzio, a 70-year-old retired teacher, became a father for the first time, and the second time, and the third time, and the fourth time--all on the same day.
His 38-year-old wife, Doris, gave birth to test-tube quadruplets Monday. The two boys and two girls were delivered by Caesarean section six weeks premature, a spokesman for London’s Hammersmith hospital said.
Hospital officials said Del Renzio is believed to be the oldest father of test-tube babies.
“I think they’ll keep me young,” Del Renzio said. But he said he wouldn’t necessarily be crawling around on the floor playing with them.
The couple had tried unsuccessfully to have children for more than 10 years and had been patients at the hospital’s infertility clinic for two years.
