The Richmond, Va.-based company can now borrow up to $35 million from two banks to maintain routine business operations during its Chapter 11 proceedings. The ruling by U.S. District Judge Robert R. Merhige Jr. “gives the company the ability to meet any reasonable contingency in the operation of its business,” a company spokesman said. The firm, facing thousands of damage claims over its Dalkon Shield birth control device, has sought protection from creditors under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
