The body of a girl found near the Bridge Creek Business Complex in Garden Grove on Sunday has been identified as a 16-year-old runaway from Hawaiian Gardens, police said.
An Orange County deputy coroner said the girl was Diane Frances Gurule, who was reported missing by her parents earlier in the week.
Investigators believe that the girl was a homicide victim, although an autopsy performed Monday morning failed to disclose how she died. The results of toxicology tests are expected to be available within the next few days.
The girl was wearing a gray sweat shirt and purple sweat pants when her body was discovered lying against a wire mesh fence separating the business park from the Garden Grove Freeway, Garden Grove Police Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp said.
