Gangs of youths threw stones at policemen and set several small fires in Liverpool, England, but authorities said that both the northwestern port city and London were generally quiet a day after rioting in both cities. In Liverpool, some policemen were lured into the mostly black Toxteth section by bogus emergency calls, then pelted with rocks.
