The Newport Beach Concours d’Elegance, the final stop on this season’s national Concours circuit, honored Rolls-Royces and Bentleys on Sunday in Aldrich Park on the UC Irvine campus.
In addition to the featured marques, more than 100 classics, ranging from a 1906 Mitchell owned by Newton Withers of Fountain Valley to a 1930 Isotta-Fraschini Tipo 8A SS Special Tourer owned by William Lyon of Newport Beach to a 1960 Citroen Chapron Convertible owned by Gene Christensen, also of Newport Beach, were displayed.
Best in Show was the 1930 Deusenberg J Murphy Boat Tail Speedster submitted by John Mozart of Palo Alto. Catherine Thyen was chairwoman of the event, which generated $35,000 for the Assessment and Treatment Services Center in Santa Ana.
