A Simi Valley police officer was in satisfactory condition late Thursday night after being shot twice with his own gun in a parking lot at Simi Valley High School, Simi Valley police and a spokeswoman for the Simi Valley Adventist Hospital said.
The officer, Richard Todd, 26, was shot in the chest and the hand, and was probably spared grave chest injuries by his bulletproof vest, Simi Valley Police Lt. Richard Thomas said. He said Todd had radioed at 9 p.m. that he was in the parking lot to question a suspicious-looking man when he was jumped by about three other men, who wrestled his gun away from him and shot him.
Thomas said there were no suspects.
