Government Offices Take a Holiday

To mark today’s 493rd anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ mistaken impression that an island in the Bahamas was in the vicinity of Japan, Los Angeles city and county offices will be closed on Monday. That goes for Superior and Municipal courts, federal courts, federal offices, post offices and most banks.
However, the stock market will conduct business as usual, as will Los Angeles city schools, community colleges and state universities.
