A man allegedly under the influence of PCP was shot and killed by police after officers used a stun gun in an unsuccessful attempt to restrain him, police said. Al Jeffery Harris, 28, was shot in the leg and chest by police who chased him down a South-Central Los Angeles street after Harris allegedly attacked his grandmother. Police said officers first fired a Taser gun, a device that delivers an electric shock designed to immobilize a suspect. The weapon, however, had no effect on Harris, police said. After being chased, Harris allegedly attacked an officer, who fired two shots. Harris died a short time later at Martin Luther King Medical Center.
