A 71-year-old liquor store owner who claimed he accidentally shot and critically wounded a customer was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Oberd Terrell, owner of O & J Liquor at 8608 S. Central Ave., was “escorting” Stewart Smith, 29, out of his store Friday night because the man was swearing in the store, Sgt. Christopher West of the Southeast Division said. Smith turned quickly and Terrell then pulled out a gun and hit Smith in the head with the barrel, causing the weapon to discharge, West said. Smith was in critical condition at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital.
