Student, 17, Killed in Scooter Crash

CHULA VISTA — A 17-year-old Sweetwater High School student died of head injuries Saturday when the motor scooter he was riding crashed into the rear of a parked car, police reported.
Rudy Espericueta of Chula Vista was pronounced dead at the scene, in the 100 block of East San Miguel Drive, following the 7:40 p.m. crash.
Anna Acosta, 17, of National City, who was a passenger on the scooter, was treated and released from a nearby hospital, police said.
Police said the car was parked legally.
