Smoker on Jetliner Accused of Assault

LONDON — A psychologist who insisted on smoking a cigar in the no-smoking section of a TWA jetliner has been charged with assault, Scotland Yard said Sunday.
Steven Varvaris, 52, of Jackson, Miss., will appear Monday in Uxbridge Magistrates Court on the charge of assault “occasioning actual bodily harm,” said Scotland Yard spokeswoman Marion Irving.
