The Chapman College soccer team, which finished second in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. behind Cal State Northridge, will be making its first appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs since 1979 when the Panthers travel to Northridge Saturday night to play the Matadors.
Chapman has been led this year by the play of former Canyon High School stars Rick Snyder, who has seven goals and five assists, and Moises Garcia, who has scored five goals.
The Panthers enter the playoffs with an 11-7-1 record. Northridge is 16-3. The teams split their regular-season series. The winner of Saturday night’s game advances to the quarterfinals of the 12-team national tournament.
