A Granada Hills man has been convicted of child molestation and attempted kidnaping in an August incident in which he took a 3-year-old girl by the hand and led her to a laundry room behind a Northridge apartment complex where he exposed himself. Edwin A. Greenup, 29, banged the table and shook his head in disbelief when San Fernando Superior Court Judge David Perez pronounced him guilty in the non-jury trial. Greenup admitted exposing himself to the 3-year-old and an 8-year-old girl, but denied touching either child. Perez ordered Greenup held without bail until sentencing Dec. 23. He faces up to 11 years in prison. Greenup’s father, Campbell Hugh Greenup, 58, awaits trial on 21 counts of child molestation. The elder Greenup, former operator of a private elementary school in Northridge, is accused of molesting eight girl students.
