A Palmdale man was sentenced in Los Angeles federal court to 15 years in prison for the $3,300 robbery of a Security Pacific Bank office. U.S. District Judge Terry J. Hatter Jr., in imposing the term on Russell Villareal, 29, said the defendant posed a threat to the community. Assistant U.S. Atty. William Fahey said Villareal was convicted in his second trial last month of robbing the Palmdale bank office and threatening two tellers with physical harm. Fahey said jurors deliberated only for 25 minutes before returning a guilty verdict. Villareal’s first trial ended in a hung jury, he said.
