A Santa Barbara aviation firm was put up for sale.

Austin, Tex.-based Tracor said it will sell its Tracor Aviation subsidiary, an aviation engineering and maintenance operation that mainly serves operators of large transport aircraft. Frank W. McBee Jr., chairman and president of the parent company, said the subsidiary, which has had sales of about $40 million for each of the last two years, is profitable. However, it does not fit in with Tracor’s plans to concentrate on defense and commercial electronics, he added.
