Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, who were key winners in the 1984 and 1985 Grammy Awards ceremonies, are expected to be seeing a lot of each other at the 28th annual Grammy Awards program tonight at the Shrine Auditorium.
Jackson, who’ll be accompanied by Elizabeth Taylor, and Richie co-wrote “We Are the World,” which is the odds-on favorite to win best record honors in the nationally televised event (8 p.m., KCBS Channel 2).
The all-star recording, which became the anthem last year of the international pop crusade to help famine victims in Africa, is also nominated for best album, video, song and group vocal. In all, 71 Grammys will be presented in categories ranging from pop and rock to classical and jazz.
