LA JOLLA — The Reuben H. Fleet Foundation has donated $500,000 to The Bishop’s School for use in the private day school’s scholarship and faculty salary endowment programs.
The foundation has donated a total of $1.29 million to The Bishop’s School, alma mater to five of Reuben H. Fleet’s daughters and two of his granddaughters.
The foundation is named after Fleet, an aviation pioneer who founded the Consolidated Aircraft Co. in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1923, before moving the operation to San Diego in 1935. In 1954, the company became the Convair Division of General Dynamics. The funds have been used for educational programs and scholarships.
